Why Africa's Biggest Telecom Company Is Crashing

So basically Nigerian telecom regulator asked MTN to disconnect 5 million unregistered SIM cards and MTN refused, so the regulator fined them $5billion and now they are crying and putting hands on their heads saying it's too much. Ok I agree the fine seems a little excessive but I get why the regulator came down hard on them especially with the boko haram situation we are currently facing. Most shady businesses including terrorism are done with unregistered SIM cards. So I am in full support. MTN is a guest in Nigeria and as such should comply with our demands. Also we are their largest market and one would think they would treat us like the sun shined out of our backsides to keep us on side.
