So the Nigerian government has banned the bulk importation of
low cost generator due to the risks associated with their use. Risks such as
carbon monoxide emissions and fire hazards particularly in densely populated
areas such as Lagos. The sale of single units are still allowed though, so my
Igbo brothers, relax don’t panic your business is safe.
I don’t think this is the solution though. They need to focus
on eradicating the demand for these generators by sorting out the power supply.
People will just now upgrade to the larger and noisier diesel generators that
give off more gas emissions.
