Congratulations are in order as Mark
Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, after three miscarriages, welcome their
beautiful baby girl, Max into the world. The couple are overjoyed and to mark
the arrival of their new daughter the couple pledged to donate 99 percent of
their Facebook shares over the course of their lives to the Chan Zuckerberg
Initiative, a charity. An initiative set up with the mission to "advance
human potential and promote equality in areas such as health, education,
scientific research, and energy," according to its Facebook page.
Whilst most people reacted positively to the news about the donation there has been
some backlash. The controversy stems from the fact that the initiative is registered
as a limited liability company (LLC) rather than a non-profit organisation.
According to twitter user @ollieblog "Zuckerberg is not
'giving away' 99% of his FB wealth. He's 'donating' his FB shares to an LLC
that he controls, for minimizing taxes,"
See his response to his critics here on his post on 3rd of December 2015.
